Executive Director Update June 2022

15 June 2022

Just over a week ago, I arrived in Cusco for the fourth time since I began serving as Executive Director for 33 Buckets. However, this trip is different. For the first time since 2019, we have a team of student interns and volunteers to support our on-the-ground work. Our momentum as an organization is at an all-time high as we set out to pursue our goals for the next 3 months.

As always, we aim, first, to improve the quality of our work, and second, to establish relationships with prospective partner communities. More specifically, we are rolling out a refined approach to initial community outreach and assessment that will generate a holistic understanding of each community’s needs, desires, and lifestyles. In doing this, we’re establishing a baseline of existing conditions that will enable us to better understand our impact and deliver high quality human-centered solutions.

Now, more than ever, we are focused on empowering local water managers through personal connections, tailored training programs, and necessary resources to achieve long-term access to clean water. Our team recognizes that a treatment solution is only as effective as the water management team’s ability to use it.

And finally, after over nearly 2 years of school closures, we will be re-introducing our WASH seminars that provide hands-on activities and educational information for the school children in our partner communities.

As we move forward, you can stay up-to-date on our work by checking my Executive Director updates, subscribing to our monthly newsletter, and following our social media on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. To support our vision of universal access to clean water, join our community of monthly donors for $5/month (about 1 cup of coffee from your favorite barista!).
