I’ve had the pleasure of knowing 33 Buckets since I became the Venture Mentor in 2016, part of the ASU Entrepreneurship and Innovation program. They were called Venture Devils. I met Mark, Paul and Swaroon when 33 Buckets was the “poster child” for ASU, being featured on TV in the Super Bowl commercials for their work in Peru. They were undergraduates, branching out into the world. I immediately loved their passion and curiosity as well as their commitment to “do good” in the world with water. We met periodically to talk about how they would fulfill their goals, what their structure would be and how they would secure they support they needed.
I’ve worked in developing countries, helping create small businesses and thriving agricultural cooperatives. I hoped to be able to share my knowledge with them and to reach my goal of helping them transfer skills, the value I learned as a Peace Corps volunteer in the 90s.
Over these four years, I’ve seen these founders develop into serious professionals, growing and maturing a successful organization, helping communities in need of clean water in other parts of the world. I’m very pleased to serve on the board of directors.
