Intern Travel Fund Questions

Why is traveling to Cusco with the 33 Buckets Team important to you?

Traveling to Cusco allows me to finally work with the 33 Buckets Team delivering tangible change on the ground. The opportunity to meet the incredible people of these Cusco communities, hear their stories and understand the day-to-day challenges they face is extremely important to me in learning about the people we aim to help.

How has 33 Buckets impacted you personally and professionally?

On a personal level, I have absolutely loved being a part of the 33 Buckets team. The support and open-mindedness when it comes to new projects is unmatched. Professionally, I have been able to move up to become the Fundraising and Marketing Team Lead from starting off as intern, and have learned so much from being entrusted with this role, such as delegation of responsibilities, cohesive teamwork and overall structure and organization essential to any nonprofit.

What is your favorite part about working with 33 Buckets?

33 Buckets has granted me an opportunity to grow in multiple capacities alongside the best team members, and has given me the flexibility to mold my role on the team and contribute in the highest capacity to our sustainable water mission.

What are some of your hobbies, interests, and passions outside 33 Buckets?

Outside of 33 Buckets, I love to take pictures, travel most anywhere, read, dabble in sudoku/puzzles and write poetry. I am involved in research and the functioning of other non-profit organizations.

My name is Mara Boiangiu and I am the Fundraising and Outreach Intern for 33 Buckets. I am currently from Tucson, Arizona and am a student at Barrett, the Honors College, at Arizona State University, double majoring in Neuroscience and Global Health. Philanthropy has always been a big part of my life and external involvement, and being on a pre-med track, I hope to pursue a philanthropic effort to better the health of others on a global scale in the future.

Due to the current unprecedented circumstances, I joined the 33 Buckets team just as everything became virtual, but no matter, the team was so wonderful and supportive that it was an easy transition. Although we haven't had our time in person just yet, my favorite 33 Buckets experiences consist of our weekly virtual meetings, especially taking part in the team work and collaboration that makes this nonprofit so special. I believe in voicing ideas and giving or receiving feedback as being the most effective form of criticism. It's how they say, team work really does make the dream work, and I can't wait to continue with the 33 Buckets Team as we grow and impact many more lives fighting for our cause.
