Ed Samuels
“Painting , Sculpting , and jewelry I have been doing since my earliest years. Showing in top notch galleries all over the world while in NYC, my original home. Then off to New Mexico to live the Wild West dream. Here I've painted and carved wood with a chainsaw for the first time. Carved Big native stone as well. But painting is like breathing for me and I've done more than I can count. Each new one is like a surprise - a gift for my artistic mind. An out of body moment when vision is all. And in the course of the execution wishes to share with others. How many of these moments we as artists have contributes to the whole of the person and success of our drive and visual integral health that nurtures the source to create.”
He notes his current inspiration for this piece as:
“The light was so intense on the Jemez River this one day when I stopped to take a walk along the bank. It took me aback to see the crazy perspective making the river look as if it was running backwards. I became absorbed into this painting, doing my best to capture the feeling of the visual confusion I felt. I think I happily captured that feeling.”
